Mkomazi National Park

Mkomazi National Park is located in north-eastern Tanzania, east of Mount Kilimanjaro, and lies between the Pare and Usambara mountain ranges. Often overlooked, the park offers a quiet and scenic safari experience within a semi-arid savannah landscape.

One of Mkomazi’s defining features is its shared wildlife corridor with Tsavo National Park, allowing animals to move freely between Tanzania and Kenya. This cross-border ecosystem plays a vital role in maintaining wildlife populations and biodiversity in the region.

Mkomazi is also historically significant for its success in black rhino conservation, with protected sanctuaries helping to re-establish this critically endangered species. Game drives reveal giraffes, elephants, antelope, and abundant birdlife, while walking safaris offer a more intimate way to experience the park. Mkomazi is an excellent choice for travelers seeking a less crowded safari destination with a strong conservation focus.
