6 Day Kilimanjaro Marangu Route Climb

Day 1: Arrival at Kilimanjaro airport. Transfer to Arusha for overnight at The African Tulip.

Early breakfast, 08h00 Drive to Marangu gate (2 hrs, 1800m). Begin the registration process with the mountain authorities and meet the rest of your crew. With picnic lunches begin trekking through the rainforest to reach Mandara hut (5-6 hours, 2600m). Dinner and overnight at Marangu hut.

Breakfast, 08h00 Begin your second day on Kilimanjaro leaving the rainforest behind you, you will soon be getting a clear view of the KIBO, where the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro is located. On a clear day, you should be able to see Mt. Meru as well. Picnic lunch at a location along the way. (5-6hours, 3600 m). Dinner and overnight at Horombo hut.

ACCLIMATISATION DAY: Breakfast, trek to Mawenzi Saddle (4100m) and back to Horombo Hut. Picnic lunches along the way. Dinner and overnight at Horombo Hut.

Breakfast, 08h00 Begin your fourth day on Kilimanjaro, Kibo seems nearer! Keep walking and you will soon reach the last water point. Continue through the saddle to reach Kibo Hut early dinner, overnight at Kibo hut (5 hours, 4600m).

00:00hrs After a small snack and a warm drink, begin your trek on a winding path to reach the Gilman’s point (5 hours, 5600m), continue for another hour or so of trek to reach the SUMMIT of Mt. Kilimanjaro, the highest point in Africa, 5895 m. As the sun rises on the horizon, the views that you will glance are worth every effort that you made over the last couple of days. This is your reward for getting to the highest point of Africa, CONGRATULATIONS! You will then start your return journey to reach Kibo hut (2 hours) where your crew shall be waiting for you, you shall be treated to some energy drinks and light snacks. Short rest. Trek down to Horombo Hut for dinner and overnight (3-4 hours, 3600m).

Late breakfast, descend to Marangu park gate (3-4hrs, 1800m). Some refreshments along with picnic lunch. Bid farewell to your crew that has been with you for the past several days. Drive back to Arusha (2hrs) for a soothing shower and a celebratory dinner at The African Tulip.
