Mafia Island Lodge

Location: The Mafia Island Lodge stands amidst tall palms on a sandy beach in Chole Bay, in the heart of the marine park near Utende village on South coast of Mafia.

Accommodation: 40 comfortable rooms are set among the coconut palms with their own veranda overlooking the bay. They are all self-contained with air conditioning. Twin and double beds are available. Among the 40 rooms there are 2 family rooms with a large living room.

Facilities: The main lodge has a relaxing atmosphere with a large open restaurant, bar and lounge area. The cuisine is continental with an emphasis on seafood. A selection of alcoholic beverages, wines, beers, juices and sodas are available at the bar; gift shop.

Activities: Snorkeling, diving, sailing, beach volley, nature trails & pool table; fully equipped dive centre for beginners & experienced divers; PADI certifications and excursions by boat and 4x4 cars organized daily

Pole Pole Bungalows

Location:   Pole Pole is located in the Chole Bay area, near Utende village on the southeast coast of the Mafia Island Marine Park. It lies on the beach, within a tropical garden, overlooking a spectacular view of the Mafia Archipelago and the Indian Ocean.

Accommodation: Seven luxury bungalows suites, elegant and spacious, are set among the coconut palms overlooking the bay. Two of the bungalows are family type with two rooms separated by the bathroom and a small corridor for privacy. The large private verandahs are furnished with a Zanzibari bed, chairs, table and an armchair.

Facilities: The cuisine is a combination of diverse culinary traditions and cultures, with an Italian style touch of class. Swahili dinners are served once a week or on request; a selection of alcoholic beverages, wines, beers, juices and cold drinks are always available at the bar; library and massage center

Activities: Excursions - by boat, by 4x4 car or walking and light trekking; scuba diving, snorkeling, sailing and visiting the local villages; boat excursions and picnics to isolated islets, sandbanks or islands every day, according to the tide; PADI Diving Center and excursions by 4x4 car take you right across the island through villages and changing landscapes up to the northern tip where a lighthouse stands.

Kinasi Lodge

Location:  KINASI is a small, private lodge situated in a coconut and cashew plantation facing Chole Bay on Mafia Island.

Accommodation:  Is offered as follows:

1 suite with upstairs bedroom
1 family bungalow with two bedrooms sharing a bathroom
8 cottages with very large double beds
10 cottages with large single beds

All cottages are en-suite and have walk-in mosquito nets that cover the beds completely, and have been designed for through-ventilation and coolness in all seasons.

Facilities: Cuisine is a mixture of European and Eastern with an emphasis on seafood, fresh local produce, grills and home-made condiments; Swahili night is a feature each week; swimming pool, Pool Bar & Grill, library, video & satellite television

Activities: Scuba diving, snorkeling, fishing, sailing, windsurfing, kayaks, cycling, walks & bird watching; picnic day trips, road safaris, scenic flights, sailing into history by Ngalawa or Jahazi and Kilwa day excursions
